Relaxation is important during exam preparation as it helps to calm nerves and reduce the effects of stressful situations. I teach students how to control their anxieties by managing their breathing while tensing and relaxing different muscles. This guided focus is a basic meditation technique that enables them to be so focused on the process of relaxation that they have the ability to leave all the stress and anxiety behind. Once the students have learned to fully control their breathing and tension, they can use this skill on a daily basis without other people being aware that they are doing it. It is a perfect way to feel in control, especially on the day of the exams and even during the exam itself.
